Ashlyn Beck Signs NLI with Concordia University

Fulfilling a desire she has had since she first stepped onto a softball field, Ashlyn Beck signed a National Letter of Intent to play softball for Concordia University.

Ashlyn has been a mainstay in Swartz Creek area teams for over 10 years, beginning her playing career in the Swartz Creek Girls Youth League 7-9 division. Currently she is a member of the Swartz Creek Varsity Softball Team and plays summer travel ball for the Queens of Diamonds 18U Elite Team out of Milan, MI. She has traveled as far as Las Vegas, Nevada and Denver, Colorado playing national college exposure tournaments.

Coach Greg Brierley, Concordia University Head Softball Coach, had this to say about signing Ashlyn to a softball scholarship, "she has a great bat and she is a big addition to our TEAM at the plate. We expect to see her come in and drive in a ton of runs for us in the next few years.” Assistant Coach, Zach Johnston, described her as, “a 1st baseman that has a beautiful swing. She will do great things at the plate to help lead the Cardinals in the future.”

Congratulations go to Swartz Creek's Michaela Krusina for being named as a 2011 MHSSCA Division l All-State player - Honorable Mention for Third Base. Krusina is believed to be the first ever softball player from Swartz Creek to receive All-State recognition. The 3 year starter will be a senior next year. Complete list of 2011 All-State players.

2011 Varsity Softball Awards Banquet

The Swartz Creek Softball Program had their annual banquet and awards dinner Tuesday night at the Genesys Banquet Center in Grand Blanc. There were several awards earned this year. Eight of the young ladies received Flint Metro League Scholar Awards with grade point averages of 3.5 or higher. Four players (Andrea Aldridge, Hayley Cruthers, Gabby Deering, & Michaela Krusina) received All-League & All-District honors as well. And Michaela Krusina was also named All-Region at 3B. Below are some pictures from the evening and a list of all of their achievements.

Erin Ackley-Hescott (Senior & Captain) - Swartz Creek Athletic Boosters Sportmanship Scholarship Award, Varsity Certificate, Flint Metro League Scholar Award (3.8 GPA), & Captain Award.
Lauren Adas (Sophomore) - Varsity Certificate.
Andrea Aldridge (Junior) - 2011 Flint Metro League - Honorable Mention - Outfield, 2011 All-District, Varsity Certificate, & Flint Metro League Scholar Award (3.9 GPA).
